I am 39 years old. I am a Chinese basketball coach living in Hong Kong.
My highest education is Master of Arts in Sports and Recreation Management. My first degree was granted in the school of communication of the Hong Kong Baptist University. I attended Queen's college during my secondary school years.
I am trying to influence the world with the talent God gives me and wish to use sports to preach the gospel to the youth.
If you can read Chinese, you can know me better through my Chinese blog. There are over 200 articles that I wrote about my daily encounters.
My church told me to coach some street kids on weekends. After praying for less than a minute, I jumped into it and ended up with a belief that youth work is the most important business in the world.
I quitted my job in the bank in 1997 and devoted to Christian youth work afterwards. Although I found my salary decreasing after the devotion to Christ Jesus, I believe my reward will be doubled in Heaven!
The memory and the experience of coaching street kids always remind me of how important love is to teenagers. They will change as long as you live with them, play with them and love them truly.
When I was young I can dunk the basketball with two hands. My vertical jump distance is 24 inches before. Now I can only barely touch the rim.
I had been a Division I basketball player in Yui Fai basketball team in Hong Kong in 1992. However, to be frank, I am a bench player most of the time.
My favorite position was point guard during my secondary school years. I was the team captain and scored on average 15 points per game. I can pass the ball anywhere in the court in a split second. My dribbling skill makes anyone who is trying to steal my ball always become embarrassing. I can shoot 10 foul shots in a roll but I do not shoot well with 3 points due to my deteriorating lower body strength.
I am 185 cm tall.
As I have worked as a full time coach since 2003, I coached on average 10 hours per week. Through out those years of basketball coaching, I accumulated over 3000 hours of coaching time and game experience up to year 2008. My basketball students include primary schoolers, college players and the elite players as well.
However, I find myself still inadequate in many aspects. I am still buying video and books, learning from others and improving my coaching skills.
